"Free Wall" is a film currently being produced in Indianapolis, Muncie, Anderson, and various locations throughout East-Central Indiana.
The story follows two young men working in an Indianapolis factory who begin their relationship at opposite ends of the socioeconomic spectrum. However, while working together, they become friends through a common love of art. More specifically they begin painting graffiti on what are known as "free walls," or walls located on public or private property where painting is not only legal, but encouraged.
The cast and crew are comprised primarily of Ball State University students participating in an immersive learning experience that allows students to create professional-level films. In its 5th year, the "Summer Production Immersion" allows each student to work full-time (40-60 hours per week) in the same manner as professional production crews. The students manage their project with guidance from faculty teaching in the Department of Telecommunications at Ball State University. The end result produces a higher-quality product and an experience that is often impossible to achieve during a standard classroom project.
This blog serves as a production diary for the cast and crew-- documenting their experiences as they create "Free Wall."
